If you don't want to know the answer...

Don't ask the question!!!

This was sound advice given from our Beloved Bishop Memmott... and I should have headed that advice this weekend...

I was trying to get the kids in the 'productive mode' and get them out of jammies, etc.  I had been saying the phrase "Get dressed and brush your teeth" to our children more times than I can count.  As I came around the corner from the kitchen, I found Seth standing doing something OTHER than getting dressed and brushing his teeth.

... so I did it, I said the exasperated "ask-a-question-that-you-really-don't-intend-to-get-an-answer-to-" question,

"Seth, HOW MANY TIMES do I have to ask you to get dressed and brush your teeth??!"...

... to which he pondered a moment before answering (in a completely serious wanting-so-much-to-give-the-right-answer tone)...

"Ummm, 200?"

... yep, I walked right into that one...

Jen, I just read your blog from last week! You really need to write a book! You are so funny! I love the way you write about all your grief. I hope life was better this week. I can only laugh because I feel your pain, been there done that, not -21 degrees, that's just too cold! Have a great week!

Jen, you are funny! Good 'ole Seth. Sweet and so literal. Wonder when kids develop understanding of rhetorical questions.
