This was sound advice given from our Beloved Bishop Memmott... and I should have headed that advice this weekend...
I was trying to get the kids in the 'productive mode' and get them out of jammies, etc. I had been saying the phrase "Get dressed and brush your teeth" to our children more times than I can count. As I came around the corner from the kitchen, I found Seth standing doing something OTHER than getting dressed and brushing his teeth.
... so I did it, I said the exasperated "ask-a-question-that-you-really-don't-intend-to-get-an-answer-to-" question,
"Seth, HOW MANY TIMES do I have to ask you to get dressed and brush your teeth??!"...
... to which he pondered a moment before answering (in a completely serious wanting-so-much-to-give-the-right-answer tone)...
"Ummm, 200?"
... yep, I walked right into that one...

Jen, I just read your blog from last week! You really need to write a book! You are so funny! I love the way you write about all your grief. I hope life was better this week. I can only laugh because I feel your pain, been there done that, not -21 degrees, that's just too cold! Have a great week!
Noah does the same thing!!! So funny...how are we supposed to respond to that???
That's pretty funny. I do that all the time too. You'd think we'd learn! ;) Seth is so funny!
our nani is the one that we have to ask that question to! it drives us crazy! she always gives as her answer, "i got distracted!" now i think she just uses that as an excuse for anything! ahhhhhhh!
too funny.
200 is a good answer.
Jen, you are funny! Good 'ole Seth. Sweet and so literal. Wonder when kids develop understanding of rhetorical questions.
